Persian New Year {Norooz} is one of the most celebrated + anticipated festivities amongst Persians/Iranians. The Persian New Year is always on the first day of Spring + celebrated 13 days after the New Year, to be followed by: Seezdeh-Bedar.  As part of the New Year celebration, we prettify a traditional table spread called a Haftseen. The spread is an ancient tradition dating back over 3000 years to the pre-Islamic empire. ”Haft” means seven + “seen” is the sound of the letter “s” or “seen” in Farsi, the Persian alphabet. The Haftseen spread is filled with seven specific items all starting with the letter “s” or “seen”.
